Tom Onslow-Cole and RAM Racing are back in action, this weekend, as they head to the 12 Hours of Italy for their first outing together of 2017.
Once again piloting a Mercedes AMG GT3, the 29-year old Rockstar Energy Athlete is looking forward to returning to Mugello Circuit. He lists the 5.25km track among his favourites in the World and hopes to go one better than his best result of second place overall when he takes on this year’s once-around-the-clock event.
“I love driving the Mugello Circuit!” commented the Milltek Sport-supported driver. “It’s an absolute pleasure. The undulations, high-speed sections and big stops somehow all seem to just flows so well. If you’ve got time for a look around, it’s pretty picturesque too!”
This is the third season OC has competed for RAM Racing in select endurance events and, together, they have racked-up six podium finishes, plus a race win in the 24 Hours of Paul Ricard.
“It’s great to be RAM Racing’s ‘go-to’ driver when they are approached by new customers,” continued OC, who will race alongside Remon Vos (NL) and Kevin Veltman (NL), this weekend. “Remon and I have fantastic programme ahead of us this year and what a brilliant way to kick it off. For sure, the track time of a 12-hour event will be very useful ahead of our sprint racing season.”
As well as selected 24H Series events, RAM Racing, OC and Vos will contest the Le Mans Cup in the team’s Mercedes AMG GT3.
“Looking at this weekend in isolation, we are absolutely aiming for some silverware, but we know it’s not going to be easy. Both Remon and Kevin are new to GT3 racing and, looking down the entry list, there is some tough competition, too. I guess we’ll have to see how it plays out.”
The 12 Hours of Mugello starts with a four-hour part one at 1400 on Friday 17 March and continues with the remaining eight hours of action at 0900 on Saturday 18 March.

Tom Onslow-Cole will return to RAM Racing, this season, as the Silverstone-based team has signed him to head-up its Michelin Le Mans Cup campaign in the Mercedes AMG GT3.
The Michelin Le Mans Cup is a six-round championship that runs on the European Le Mans Series package and includes a support race at the world-famous 24 Hours of Le Mans as its centre-piece.
The Rockstar Energy Athlete, who has won both races and a championship with RAM Racing, is looking forward to returning to the Circuit de la Sarthe on the biggest weekend in sportscar racing.
“I won a support race at Le Mans a few years ago, in an Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3 that was run by RAM Racing,” said OC, who recently announced that his partnership with Milltek Sport would continue for a seventh season. “It would be great to go back with the team and do it in the Mercedes AMG GT3.
“Aside from Le Mans, there are some awesome tracks in the calendar and I’ve raced at almost all of them – it’s just Red Bull Ring that is new to me. I know that RAM Racing have won races at most of the tracks, including our 24 Hours of Paul Ricard win together back in 2015, so that stands us in good stead.”
The highly-experienced RAM Racing crew, based at Silverstone Park, are no strangers to the European Le Mans Series (ELMS) paddock. In fact, they won the ELMS GTLM class in 2013 in their debut year as a team, before going-on to contest the World Endurance Championship in 2014.
“RAM Racing are one of the top teams I have ever raced with – and I’ve raced with a fair few!” concluded OC, who will be joined in the RAM Racing Mercedes AMG by Remon Vos (NL). “I’m proud to race with RAM Racing and I’m confident that we have a good shot at another championship win together.”

This brings OC's total number of races in 2017 to 24. Earlier this year, he was signed as a BMW factory driver for its Nürburgring 24 Hours campaign; he will contest GT Open with sps automotive performance; he has a post-Nurburgring VLN programme with Milltek Sport; and is signed-up for various rounds of 24H Series.
The 2017 Michelin Le Mans Cup kicks-off at Monza in Italy on 13 May. Fans can follow OC on social media using @tomonslowcole.
